Magnificent deep toning, in blue and steel gray, with a handsome portrait of Venus. The reverse sharp! Superb Extremely Fine.

Julius Caesar, d. 44 BC. AR Denarius (4.1g), 42 BC, L. Livineius Regulus, moneyer. Laureate head of Caesar right, between laurel branch and caduceus. Reverse: Bull charging right, L. LIVINEIVS REGVLVS in field around. Cr. 494/24; Syd 1106. Excellent posthumous portrait, well struck up. Lightly toned. A very pleasant example of Caesar's popular coinage. Slight banker's marks on cheek and neck; reverse a bit off center. Choice Very Fine.
