Gordian III & Tranquillina, 238-244 AD. AE 31 of Singara, Mesopotamia. Confronted jugate busts of Gordian, laureate, draped and cuirassed, and Tranquillina, diademed and draped. Reverse: City goddess seated left on rock, holding branch; above, Centaur Sagittarius leaping left. BMC Mesopotamia, p. 135, 8 ff. Dark brown and green patina. Very Fine.

Reverse: Tetrastyle temple, with grove surrounded by enclosure containing colonnade; in exergue, capricorn left; ethnic around. BMC Syria, p. 127, 29ff.; SNG Cop. 33 var. Dark chocolate patina. Very Fine.

Otacilia Severa, wife of Philip I. Two AR Antoniniani. Each with diademed and draped bust of Severa right, lunar crescent at shoulder. Reverse: Pudicitia seated left, holding scepter (RIC 123c var. or 145 var.); and, Concordia seated left, holding patera and cornucopia (RIC 125c). Lot of 2 coins. Both toned, the first with choice portrait. Coins average Extremely Fine. Uncertain mint for first coin, since obverse legend badly garbled.

Trajan Decius, 249-251 AD. AE 39 of Maeonia, Lydia. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Decius right. Reverse: Dionysius, supported by maenad(?) who regards him, sits in cart drawn right by two panthers; at right and above, Cupid flying right, holding reins(?). SNG Cop. --; SNG von Aulock --; cf. BMC Lydia p. 136, 53. Deep green to black patina, with orichalcum highlights. Rough surfaces but boldly detailed. Nice Fine, the reverse better. A large and impressive pictorial type. Rare.
