Five different AE and AR coins. Included are an AR joint reign antoninianus
with Junctio Dextrarum; another, silver washed, with draped Sol holding globe;
a bronze antoninianus with centaur reverse. Also two Greek Imperial issues: AE
19, Alexandria Troas, grazing horse right; and an AE 29 of Cibyra, Phrygia,
with bold cuirassed portrait, and hexastyle temple reverse. Lot of 5 coins. A
pleasant little group, with better portraits and some interesting reverse.
Worth a close look. Coins grade from good Very Fine to Extremely Fine.

Time of Maxentius, 306-312
AD. Lot of forger's coin molds. Fashioned from red-brown terra cotta, some
are now gray from heat exposure. The five molds impressed with coins of
Maxentius, both as Caesar and Augustus, and one of Constantius Chlorus as
Caesar. Portrait heads are laureate and bearded. Two reverse types present:
GENIO IMPERATORIS and GENIO CAESARIS, each with Genius holding patera and
cornucopia. The two reverse impressions indicate mints at Alexandria and
Antioch. Molds consist of two "center pieces," an impression on both sides of
the roughly disc-shaped form. The remaining three are "ends," uniface -- with
only one coin impression. Several have the incised casting channel visible. The
coins are of Follis size, the molds range from 29 to 32 mm. in diameter. Some
edge chipping, otherwise molds Very Fine, or better, with very clean
impressions. Interesting and rare.
