heavier board. Verdi has inscribed the card in Italian beneath his elaborately
cursive printed name. The card is dated, probably in another hand, "May 30,
1862," in English above the inscription. With a darkened rim, on unevenly
trimmed stock.

Revolutionary and General. Inscribed Visiting Card. 3¾ x 2¼",
on manilla card stock. Dated "April 7, 1909" beneath the printed
address, "Cumpas, Son.[ora]" with an intriguing inscription in Spanish
which begins on the verso and continues onto the recto above and below Pancho
Villa's printed name, "Francisco F. Villa." The Generalissimo's note reads:
(translated from Spanish)"The three doormen are on their way over with the
objective of looking at properties... I was permitted to send them to you...
Have them provide you with an example of the necessary information./ to Mr.
Manuel B. Quiroga/ April 7, 1909". Exhibits several creases, with the
extreme upper right tip being lost, probably where this corner had once been
folded.

(1769-1852) British Army General and Statesman. Inscribed Visiting Card
Signed. Approximately 3 x 1¾", on cream card stock. With a Free Frank
post mark, "19 December, 1829." Wellington evidently used this card as an
invitation, sent by post, to pay a social call. Inscribed and dated "Dec. 18
, 1924," in Wellington's hand, and signed "Wellington." Includes a
very unusual leather carrying case that was originally used to house this
charming card.
