Wellington, Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of. (1769-1852) British Army General and Statesman. Inscribed Visiting Card Signed. Approximately 3 x 1¾", on cream card stock. With a Free Frank post mark, "19 December, 1829." Wellington evidently used this card as an invitation, sent by post, to pay a social call. Inscribed and dated "Dec. 18 , 1924," in Wellington's hand, and signed "Wellington." Includes a very unusual leather carrying case that was originally used to house this charming card.
