1857. NGC graded Proof 64. Sharply struck and well preserved. This coin is attractively toned with medium shades of steel-blue and gold. Less than 100 were struck, and only a small handfull of choice examples exist today. Population of 7 with 10 higher.
Estimated Value $4,000-4,500.

Lot 1213 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1859. PCGS graded Proof 65. First year of the Type III design, here in a near-perfect, glittering blue and lilac version. The toning is somewhat deep and appears drab at first glance, but when the coin is turned to the right angle under a light source, the colors jump out at you. We suspect that if the color was a bit brighter, the grade would also be higher.
Estimated Value $1,250-1,350.
