Attractive 1795 Bolender-4 Flowing Hair Dollar

Lot 612 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1795. 2 leaves beneath each wing. B-4, R-3. PCGS graded AU-50. Struck on a broad, full planchet with a complete complement of denticles encircling both sides. The strike is nice and even, from dies that were in perfect parallel alignment. Soft traces of luster can still be seen around many of the design elements, particularly on the reverse. The color is an original, light, silver-gray, with traces of golden-brown toning on the obverse. Any wear is light and appears as softening of the color on the high points. The only flaw worth mentioning is a small dig in the right obverse field, just in front of and below Liberty's chin.
Estimated Value $10,000-12,000.

Certified AU-55 1795 Silver Dollar

Lot 613 Click on photo for enlarged version Click on photo for enlarged version
1795. 2 leaves beneath each wing. B-1, R-2. NGC graded AU-55. A very pleasing and impressive example of the second year of American Silver Dollar production. Never cleaned, this piece features original, silver-gray colors with golden-brown toning surrounding most of the devices on the obverse. The reverse is a little softer in appearance, not as heavily toned around the devices and with a slightly brighter appearance. The only flaw worthy of note is a tiny rim ding at 5:30 on the reverse. A beautiful, well-balanced piece and a great coin for the type or date specialist.
Estimated Value $10,000-13,000.
