Lot 413
Great Britain. Sovereign, 1917. George V. S-3996; Fr-404b; KM-820. A major rarity among sovereigns! England was going off the gold standard at this point in World War One, and most of the sovereigns
of this, the final year from London, were melted before they ever left the mint. This is, bar none, the very top piece we ever located. Extremely rare! Spink places a valuation of 3,500 Pounds ($5,600) on the 1917 sovereign in EF grade, but does not
attempt to price it in Unc., because of its great rarity in this condition. The finest known? PCGS graded MS-63. Color photo. Estimated Value $7,500-10,000.
