Lot 2685
1913 Lincoln Cent.
NGC graded Proof 66 Red. A glowing red example of this early proof
Lincoln. The surfaces are pristine and show virtually no signs of handling. We
see a few faint streaks but no problem spots or other value impairing
detriments. The reverse has fiery red color that is especially lovely around
the periphery. Only 2,848 struck in Proof, and of these NGC has graded 8 as
PF-66 Red, with just 4 higher.
Estimated Value $1,200-1,400.
Lot 2686
1913. Buffalo Nickel, Type
1. NGC graded Proof 66. A single year type coin that was struck in
very limited quantities (1,520). Many of these were mishandled or even spent
soon after issue. To locate a gem is a challenge, and to find one this nice
quite difficult. NGC has graded only 79 this high, with 20 graded higher, all
PF-67. The surfaces are free of spots or other marks, and the strike is quite
sharp, as expected. No signs of toning on this example.
Estimated Value
$1,800-2,200.
Lot 2687
1913. Buffalo nickel. Type
2. NGC graded Proof 67. One of the very finest graded of this
important first year of issue (type II). The strike is nearly perfect, and we
note a trace of bluish toning on the obverse, and a rich golden sunset on the
reverse. Of course the surfaces are mark and spot free, and this one appears to
have scarcely been touched since the day it was coined. NGC has graded only 23
this high, with just 2 higher.
Estimated Value $2,000-2,500.
Lot 2688
1913 Barber dime.
NGC graded Proof 66. Pristine surfaces on this proof, we note
irregular gray and gold toning, with a dollop of color right by Liberty's mouth
and nose in the field, on the reverse there is irregular blue and gold colors
through the wreath. The mirror fields are undiminished and this coin is
apparently from a 1913 proof set, which is offered by denomination throughout
this catalog. NGC has graded 13 as PF-66, with 10 graded higher.
Estimated
Value $1,100-1,300.
Lot 2689
1913 Barber Quarter
dollar. NGC graded Proof 66. Intense blue and reddish gold on the
obverse, with a broken fingerprint in the left field and on Liberty, but the
colors are very lively on this one. The reverse is similar, with blazing blue
throughout, and well mirrored fields offset the devices. As nice as these are
usually found, and far more appealing if you love colorful toned coins. NGC has
graded 32 this high, with 21 higher in grades all the way up to PF-69.
Estimated Value $1,300-1,500.
Lot 2690
1913 Barber Half dollar.
NGC graded Proof 67. One of the finest graded in proof, this coin
boasts near perfect surfaces and irregular gold and blue toning with gray
undertones on both sides. The strike is perfect and the coin is virtually
without a flaw. NGC has graded on 10 this high, and we note 3 coins graded
higher by that service. Well matched to the dime and cent also offered in this
sale under their respective denominations.
Estimated Value $3,800-4,200.
