1883-S. AU-58 Prooflike. This one has numerous fine hairlines either from a cleaning or from brief circulation on the mirror fields. Bright white, and excellent contrast for this date. We note the S Mintmark is doubled to the lower right.

1883-S. PCGS graded AU-50. Untoned and still lustrous, with a few reeding marks on the cheek.

1883-S and 1904-S. Each grades EF-45, but both have been cleaned. The 1883-S has likely been polished too. Lot of 2 coins.

1884. Proof 63. Probably cleaned long ago and retoned with dark gray hues over the mirror fields, while the frosted devices remain intact and a bit lighter. A decent coin for the grade despite the minor cleaning.

1884. PCGS graded MS-64. Rich sunset gold on the left obverse which intensifies towards the right to vibrant red and turns to blue-green on the lower right rim. Another toned delight which has nice surfaces, and enticing colors, while the reverse is white.

1884-CC. MS-64. Fresh and white, with loads of luster and eye appeal. Sharply struck too.

1884-CC (4 pieces), GSA black box dollars. Each grades MS-60+. One is prooflike, the others satiny, and all are untoned. Lot of 4 coins.

1884-CC (2 pieces). The first is PCGS graded MS-62, the next is PCGS graded MS-61. Both are bright white. Lot of 2 coins.

1884-O. NGC graded MS-65. Dark blue and fuchsia on the lower two thirds of the obverse, gold above with very intense colors overall, the reverse with a touch of gold at the edge. A gem coin too, and well worth a look if you love wildly toned Morgans.

1884-O (10 pieces) and 1885-O (10 pieces). This two date roll grades Uncirculated. Several decent coins included and this is a problem free group. Lot of 20 coins.

1884-S. AU-55. Most of the mint luster in present in the fields, and just a bit of wear on the high points. Always in demand, and about as nice as this date can usually be found.

1884-S. AU-53. The fields are reflective, and show the usual hairlines from brief circulation. The usual grade for the date.

1884-S. AU-50. Bright and flashy, with full breast feathers, but we note some hairlines in the delicate fields. This one is conservatively graded.

1884-S. EF-45. One rim nick on the upper obverse, and toned a medium gray color.

1884-S and 1885-S. The 1884-S grades XF-45, but has been cleaned and the 1885-S grades AU-50 also has been cleaned. Lot of 2 coins.

1885. PCGS graded MS-66. Gorgeous obverse toning on this specimen, the left side is gold, which changes to bright reddish-gold, the turns to a teal blue on the right. Sharply struck and well preserved, with very clean surfaces, enough so to earn the coveted MS-66 grade from PCGS. As usual, the reverse is bright and untoned.

1885. MS-65 Semi Prooflike. Reflective fields and glowing white throughout. One nick near the eagle's beak.

1885. PCGS graded MS-64. Wild orange-russet and sea blue toning on the obverse, the reverse white save for an arc of blue and gold at the upper left. In an old style small PCGS holder. Well struck and preserved, and another toned coin delight for the specialist.

1885. PCGS graded MS-64. Yellow green toning on the obverse over strong luster, the reverse is untoned and flashy. We note that the 5 is recut at the top, and the second 8 has a dash under it. Worth a premium for the toning.

1885. NGC graded MS-64. The obverse has lovely blue, rose and gold irregular toning from a paper envelope (it appears), and the reverse has peripheral gold toning too.

1885 (7 pieces), 1886 (7 pieces) and 1889 (6 pieces). This roll grades mostly uncirculated. 2 coins have light buffing on the face, the balance are nice. Lot of 20 coins.
