Lot 2170
1892. PCGS graded
Proof 64. Dark blue and reddish gold on both the obverse and reverse in
lovely shades. Boldly struck and well preserved for the moderate grade.
Estimated Value $400-500.
Lot 2171
1892-O. PCGS graded
MS-64. One of the scarce early dates that is tough to find any nicer, we
note this particular one has gorgeous toning over lustrous fields, with hints
of gray, green and blue with gold flecks as well. Fully struck and well
preserved, and at worst fairly graded, perhaps a bit under.
Estimated Value
$350-400.
Lot 2172
1897. NGC graded
Proof 67. Glowing light blue and gold toning over the fields while the
frosty devices remain more white in color. Boldly struck and well preserved,
and certainly at the high end for the date. NGC has graded 30 this high, with
just 5 higher.
Estimated Value $2,100-2,400.
Lot 2173
1900. NGC graded
Proof 67 Cameo. One of the finest graded of this date, especially with the
desirable "cameo" designation. The surfaces are quite bright, with just a trace
of toning around the periphery, and blast white at the centers. Well frosted
and exceptional eye appeal. NGC notes 7 this high in the Cameo designation,
with 2 higher.
Estimated Value $2,000-2,500.
Lot 2174
1901 Mint error, straight
edge clip. MS-63. There is a long, straight edge clip at the top of
the obverse. Nice gold toning over lustrous surfaces. Mint errors are very
popular, and far harder to locate on the earlier series as compared with more
modern issues.
Estimated Value $125-150.
Lot 2175
1905. PCGS graded
Proof 67. Tied for the finest graded by PCGS of this date, the surfaces are
toned with rich lilac gold with darker fields on the obverse, while the reverse
is toned with deep blue on the wreath and more dark gold in the fields. The
PCGS Population Report shows 13 graded this high, with none graded higher.
Estimated Value $2,750-UP.
Lot 2176
1905-O. NGC graded
MS-65. Satiny white luster on both sides, with light toning starting to
form. A nice strike for a New Orleans coin. NGC has graded 10 this high with 5
higher.
Estimated Value $1,250-1,500.
Lot 2177
1907. PCGS graded
Proof 66. A glittering gem example of this date, completely white in color.
Strong contrast and well frosted on the devices, without a flaw. PCGS has
graded only 21 this high, with a scant 7 higher.
Estimated Value
$1,250-1,500.
Lot 2178
1909. ICG graded
Proof 67 Cameo. Nearly perfect surfaces on this coin, which are easily
examined as there is no sign of toning on either side. Free of the usual
hairlines, spots and other signs of age and handling, this seductive cameo is
well worth a strong bid. Ample frost on the devices provides strong contrast
with the mirror fields.
Estimated Value $2,000-2,500.
Lot 2179
1910. Proof 63
Cameo. Lovely toning around the periphery which is probably from long
storage in a coin album, the centers bright white. A few hairlines on the
delicate fields.
Estimated Value $300-400.
Lot 2180
1911. PCGS graded
Proof 65. Bright and untoned, with strong frost on the devices and very
clean fields. This coin appears to be a very high end example for the grade, as
we so no disturbing marks or hairlines. Outstanding quality on this proof.
Estimated Value $800-1,000.
Lot 2181
1912. NGC graded
Proof 65. Blazing white in color and with excellent surfaces throughout.
Under the extremes of a halogen lamp and a 10X glass, a few faint hairlines can
be found, and these apparently account for the grade on this otherwise superb
coin.
Estimated Value $750-850.
