The silk, bordered by a trail of international flags, features a central image of Niagara Falls against an ivory background. Measuring 24 x 24". Very minor aging. In very fine condition overall.

The 1901 Pan-American Expo was held from May 1 - November 2, attracting a crowd of nearly 8 million. The expo, organized to help promote commercial and social interests among the countries of the Americas, was held during Buffalo's centennial celebration. Interestingly, though this silk pictures the grandiose Niagara Falls, the Expo actually created a rivalry between the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls, as both had bid to host the event. In the end, Buffalo received the right, greatly influenced by their expansive railway system.

A note for political enthusiasts, it was during the 1901 Pan-American Expo that President McKinley was fatally shot, tragically resulting in his untimely death.
