Lot 3989
1854-O. EF-45.
This coin was struck from lapped dies as some of the letters are weak. Only
24,000 were struck, and few are available in high grades. This one has some
luster in the lettering and nice copper toning around the edge.
Estimated
Value $1,250-1,750.
Lot 3990
1860-S. Sharpness
of VG-8. Only 4,408 struck in San Francisco in 1860, as demand was not too
great. This one has numerous surfaces ticks and faint scratches, and was
polished to an unnatural brightness. A filler, with a strong date and mintmark.
Inspection mandatory.
Estimated Value $200-250.
Lot 3991
1863. AU-58. A
few trivial rim nicks, and struck from clashed dies with lines around Liberty's
face and inside the wreath on the reverse. Another scarce date.
Estimated
Value $1,000-1,200.
Lot 3992
1877. PCI graded
MS-63 "Cleaned". Cleaned and maybe even lightly polished, the coin does not
show any wear, even on the high points. Only 1,468 struck, and all survivors
are rare. Inspection mandatory.
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.
Lot 3993
1878. NGC graded
MS-62. Clean and bright, with one unfortunate dig at the top of the
obverse, near the second T of STATES.
Estimated Value $1,700-1,900.
Lot 3994
1878. PCGS graded
MS-62. Delicate copper toning in some of the lettering and with satiny
luster on both sides. Moderate hairlines, as usual, but still choice appearing.
Estimated Value $1,700-1,900.
Lot 3995
1878. MS-60 Plus.
There is a small area that appears to have been repaired around 8 o'clock
on the reverse. Flashy luster and well struck.
Estimated Value
$1,000-1,500.
Lot 3996
1878. Sharpness of
AU-55. Polished, and good for jewelry. Rather ugly and a coin which needs
to be worked on further.
Estimated Value $450-550.
Lot 3997
1882. Sharpness of
VF-20. Cleaned and perhaps polished a bit, with the usual hairlines in the
fields. This appears to be the 2 over high 2 in the date.
Estimated Value
$400-500.
Lot 3998
