Bronze Coins, c. 400-100 BC. A variety of items and sizes. Including: a
small AE of Metapontum, barley grain / Tripod; Agrigentum, Hemilitron, Eagle on
hare / Crab; Athens, AE 21, Helmeted head of Athena right / Athena next to
olive tree (Svor. pl. 87, 27-30); and a serrate AE 24 of Antiochus VI, elephant
reverse. Also a worn Sestertius of Vespasian and a Denarius of Antoninus Pius,
Laetitia reverse. Lot of 6 coins. Coins range from Good to near Extremely
fine.

Silver Coins, 5th-3rd centuries BC. Athens, AR tetradrachm, after 449 BC.:
Athena head right / Owl standing right, short test cut on each side. Also,
Syracuse, Corinthian-style stater of Agathokles, 317-289 BC.: Head of Athena
right, with helmet decorated with griffin / Pegasus flying left. A Nomos of
Velia, c. 365-340 BC.: Head of Athena left, with helmet decorated with griffin
/ Lion walking right, in exergue, owl. And lastly, Neapolis, AR Nomos, c.
300-250 BC.: Head of nymph right, astragalos behind / Man-head bull right, Nike
flying above. Lot of 4 coins. Athens attractively toned; Agathokles some
tooling in cleaned areas; Velia, some porosity in fields; Neapolis, darkly
toned. Good to Fine.

Small Denomination Silver Coins. Cnidos, c. 390-330 BC., AR Diobol: Head of
Aphrodite right / Head of bull facing (SNG Cop. 302). Along with, Corcyra, c.
450-350 BC., AR Triobol: Vase / Star of eight rays (Cf. SNG Cop. 152). And
last, Lycian League, Kragos, AR Drachm: Laureate head of Apollo right / Lyre
(SGC 5267). Lot of 3 coins. All with nice old collection toning. Very Fine.
A good little group.

Silver Coins. First: Danube Region, c. 3rd century BC., AR Tetradrachm
imitating Philip III of Macedon: Head of Herakles right / Zeus enthroned left
(Göbl OT 579). Also, Corinth, c. 400-350 BC., AR Stater: Pegasus, with
curled wing, walking left / Helmeted head of Athena left (Cf. SNG Cop. 33). And
last, Rhodes, c. 387-304 BC, AR Didrachm: Facing head of Helios, turned
slightly to right / Rose bud in profile, E at left (SGC 5037). Lot of 3 coins.
All toned, two deeply so. Rhodes with smoothing and tooling. Very Good to
Fine.

Denomination Silver Coins, 4th-3rd centuries BC. Including: Arcadian
League, c. 370-280 BC, AR Triobol: Head of Zeus left / Pan seated left (SGC
2687); Argolis, c. 465-420 BC., AR Diobol: Forepart of wolf left / Large A in
stepped incuse square (SNG Cop. 2); Caria, c. 390-330 BC., AR Diobol: Head of
Aphrodite, hair in sphendone / Forepart of lion right. Last, a Tetrobol of Kos,
c. 300-190 BC: Head of bearded Herakles right, wearing lion's skin / Top view
of crab, club below (Cf. SGC 4993). Lot of 4 coins. All coins toned, the Cos
coin with some surface irregularities. Good.

South Italian and Sicilian Bronzes, mostly 3rd century BC. AE 19 of the
Arpi, Apulia: Bull right / Prancing horse right (SNG Cop. 607). AE 23 probably
of the Lokroi Epizephyrioi: Helmeted head of Athena left / Pegasus left (Cf.
SNG Cop.1888). AE 23 of Hicetas: Wreathed head of Persephone left / Fast biga
right (SNG Cop. 801ff.) AE 27 of Hieron II: Head left / Horseman with spear
right (SNG Cop. 834ff.). AE 17 of Taurumenium: Apollo head left / bull left
(SNG Cop. 917). Also two AE 16's of Carthage: Wreathed head of Tanit left /
Horse right, palm tree behind. Lot of 7 coins. All dark brown to blackish
patinas, one green-brown. Fine.
