Fairbanks, Douglas Sr. (1883-1939) Silent
film star and swashbuckling matinee idol of such films as Robin Hood
(1922) and The Thief of Bagdad (1924), in which he did all his own
stunts. He was a founder of United Pictures and in 1920 he married the popular
actress Mary Pickford.
Signed Photograph. A Glossy, 8 x 10" film
still of the silent screens greatest swashbuckler, depicting the fallen hero on
the brink of death, stretched out in a makeshift sick bed inside a tent,
surrounding by solicitous friends, whose fate now hangs grimly in the balance.
Fairbanks has signed in deep blue ink, "Douglas Fairbanks." Fine.
