Lot 478
Riley, James Whitcomb. Inscribed Visiting
Card Signed. 4 x 2½", on cream card stock. An interesting card with
a large printed facsimile of the poets signature at center, directly above
which he has inscribed the salutation, "Greetings & very truly yours James
Whitcomb Riley Indianapolis: March 6, 1907." A printed legend at lower left
identifies the central printed signature as a "Fac-simile Autograph." Riley has
underlined the word "Fac-simile" and written "and original JWR," in hand
underneath in reference to the holograph inscription above. Three signatures in
all, one printed, one autographed, and one initialed. Crease at center, with
mounting traces on verso, otherwise fine. An attractive and unusual example.
Estimated Value $200-300.
