With a lengthy inscription in French on recto/verso: "My dear Germes,/ I received a letter from your mother and an invitation to visit from you, at the time I am leaving to go to the opening with Valmont./ I don't know yet when I will be able to come to Bormbuse, because I have guests myself. If the Baron de Vaux leaves on the 9th I will come that day. But couldn't you come to visit at Etretat on the 5th or 6th with [your] brother-in-law. You would give me great pleasure. I shake both of your hands./ Guy Maupassant."
