Mallarme, Stephane. (1842-1898) French Symbolist poet, author of The Afternoon of the Faun (1876) and Vers et Prose (1893). Inscribed Visiting Card Initialed. 4 x 2½", on cream card stock. Inscribed in French above his printed name, loosely translated: "Thursday evening / ... a powder to kill; but may be used only with the approbation of Cabelle. Good bye, Dear Madam." The inscription is capped with a lovely monogram signature, SM."
