Valentinian III, 425-455 AD. Gold Solidus (4.4g). Minted at Ravenna in 430-445 AD. Diademed and cuirassed bust of the emperor to right. Reverse: Valentinian standing, facing, right foot on head of serpent in likeness of enemy, holds long cross and Victory. RIC 2018. Superb, well struck and quite lustrous. Nearly Mint State.
