Honorius, 393-423 AD. Gold Solidus (4.3g). Minted at Constantinople in 397-403 AD. Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Honorius three-quarters facing, holds spear behind and shield on shoulder. Reverse: Constantinopolis seated facing, head right, holding spear and Victory. RIC 8; Depeyrot 56/1. A superb, well struck and lustrous example with some light scratches in the fields. Nearly Mint State.
