Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Gold Solidus (4.3g). Minted at Constantinople in 441 AD. Helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding spear and shield. Reverse: Helmeted warrior (emperor?) advancing right, head left, suppressing a captive and carrying a trophy over shoulder; star in field. RIC 282. A sparkling, fully lustrous specimen. Mint State. Very scarce.
